These plates can be utilized in slightly cementing, thermal cycling, nitriding, and oxidizing environments. ASTM plates also find useful in cryogenic applications.

It has magnetic and non-magnetic properties depend on the end applications. When it is heated this alloy is subject to sigma phase precipitation. The solution annealing treatment retains a higher degree of toughness. Moreover, these are designed for application in wet corrosion environments. It can be present to enhance creep properties and has a detrimental effect on aqueous corrosion resistance. This grade is prone to intergranular attacks even in long term exposure at hoisted temperatures. However, due to the presence of resisting elements, it becomes more corrosion resistance than heat resistant alloys.

ASTM A516 GR. 60 / 70 NACE MR 0103 Plates are readily processed and weldable with standard machines. It is heated uniformly, after the hot forming operation it is processed for final annealing process and followed by water quenching process. Furthermore, this alloy is quite ductile in nature. The cold formed a material with long term exposure to elevated temperatures are not recommended since it is subjected to carbide precipitation range. All standard type of welding process can be used such as MIG, SMAW, TIG, arc welding, etc.

Packaging details:
